*theory*

My theory (not fact, not backed up, just purely speculative), is that cracked armor is a new name for deep wound. If you look at the skill torturous lash, you'll see that it doesn't include deep wound, poision, disease, or burning. The last three I can understand, since it would lead to immidate max degen on the target. But why wouldn't/shouldn't that skill cause deep wound as well?

No need to be rude.

Random thoughts on "cracked armor" since I'm not allowed to reply without being on topic:
  • It could be a monster affect that you can't remove (most likely).
  • It could be a condition which is pointless IMHO as it will be easily removed (somewhat likely).
  • It could permanently destory your armor and "Oh NOES!" there goes your FoW with Sup Vigor (wouldn't that be special)!
  • It could force your char to morph into a naked W/Mo, cast mending on yourself, Leeroy Jenkins into a huge aggro, and then rage quit (wow how awesome would this be).
  • It could be the answer to all the SR nerfs so necros finally get some love: While under the affects of cracked armor your char suffers -40 AL but gains 1 energy for every 5 damage recieved. If a char dies while under the effects of this condition all members of your party receive 50 energy but also suffer from disease, poison, and weakness for 25 seconds. If a necromancer dies while under the affects of this condition a level 55 bone dragon will be summoned from his corpse that moves 3000% faster and strikes all nearby foes for 500 vampiric damage every second for each level of soul reaping.

Wow imaginative entertainment is kinda fun actually! Now I can't wait to finally find out what "cracked armor" will actually end up being!

I actually took your comment to be alittle rude though I should have perhaps had a please in my post.

Bwhahahah Sam, <3. But really, this condition appears to be pretty cool. Maybe there's going to be a single elite skill which can bring a warrior's heavy AL down to that of a monk's tatts? Anywho, they're never going to allow the breaking of actual armor, that's absurd.

Creates the potential for a new Warrior shout...

"You Want a Piece of Me!" (requirements TBD)
All enemies attacking you suffer from Cracked Armor and Weakness for 5 - 17 seconds.

Crack armor? Maybe rip armor. But what about scar/ascetic necros and monks? Paint remover?

I suppose it will be a condition that either reduces your effitive armor by 20 AL or turns your armor into 60 AL (thus effectively ignoring the armor)

I remember this idea being suggested in Sardelac Sanitarium, err, multiple times, but it was a while ago... This was before I got completely fed up with that area. :S

Simple, Cracked Armor is a condition that causes all non-armor-ignoring damage sources to have added 20% armor penetration.

/speculation

That's some bad maths right there..

What would blind do to ritualists, for that matter? Sometimes you just have to suspend your disbelief a bit.

Not true.

Let the normal running speed be 1.

1 x 3000% = 30

The running speed with a 3000% increase is 30 speed.

30 - 90% = 3

The running speed with a 3000% increase and a 90% snare is 3.

With the 3000% increase and a 90% reduction, you end up running at 3 times the normal speed.
